The only reason we hold back...

The only reason we hold back is because we think we have an endless amount of time or chances and that there will always be another day. But as time disappears into the past and the next day is not promised, our chances slowly run out. You can choose to face fear, take chances, be vulnerable and to live with eternal happiness or you can risk the eternal regret of holding back.

Never take anyone or anything for granted because you never know what tomorrow brings.

People are living for the opinion of others...
pexels-photo-866023.jpg

People are living for the opinion of others. People are rating their success based on the perception of others.

With so many superficial ideologies of success being displayed on social media and glorified depictions on television, movies, magazines......this period in American Culture is toxic to the ancient values of altruism, selflessness, empathy & compassion.

The American focus on egotistical individualism has destroyed our communities and families. Our nation can only repair at the micro system level and attempt to work its way up. But I have to ask, “is it too late?” Can you change your life? Can you make a difference in the world?

Rate success on how happy & comfortable you feel in your own skin. Regardless of your size/weight/body fat etc. Rate your success by how much you value the process instead of focusing on the result, the reward, the goal, the opinions of others, the expectations on you placed by society, never be afraid to go against the grain, to play devils advocate, to question and to “go towards happiness”. When people treat you bad, always treat them as good as you are, regardless. Never sink to a level below your own ethics, morals, values. I have been heavy, skinny, muscular, curvy, lean, depleted, starved, stuffed, malnourished. I have tried to please others to no avail. I have been beat and tested. But no matter what, I believe I control my story and I frankly… If for whatever reason I am unhappy with it, I will fight like hell to create a new chapter.

Your story is important; just remember you can write it however you want if you realize you hold the damn pen. It’s ok we write our story in pen. We actually don’t have a choice. Decisions are permanent and from every decision we learn.

Storing your Food

Purchase food storage containers for your weekly meals, ideally prepared on Sundays.

You will need Tupperware (some prefer glass, some prefer plastic). I use “Sistema” tupperware because it does not leak and they have the perfect sizes for my portions.

If you are weighing your food, you will need a food scale. You can easily purchase one at Target or on Amazon.com.

Shopping in Bulk

Invest in a membership card to a warehouse based store that specializes in selling plenty of
products in bulk sizes - I have a Costco Card.

What’s fantastic about eating healthy is that you get to eat more! Also, when we shop in bulk, we save money. Costco has a fabulous selection of items that are meal prep friendly. You can buy frozen meats and vegetables to stock up!

Spices and seasonings are fun! Think of them like the accessories to your outfit; they can transform your meal from boring to exciting!

Positive Affirmations

I work with a lot of women and far too often I hear things like:

I don't want to fail
I'm my worst critic
I hate my pictures
I suck
I'm fat
I look gross
I can't

What's even worse is that negative talk has become part of the way women bond.

"Friends getting together and tearing themselves down is such a common thing that it's hard to avoid" says Ann Kearney-Cooke, Ph.D., a Cincinnati psychologist who specializes in body image.

We can't change society overnight but we can change our behaviors immediately but replacing our negative thoughts with POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS:

I welcome failure for it brings me insight, strength, growth and knowledge. I have no fear of failure.
I give myself permission to say "no" when I am asked to do something I really don't want to do and I refuse to feel guilty about speaking up for myself.
I give myself permission to rest and heal without guilt
What other people think of me is none of my business.
I am beautiful. There is no one on Earth like me and that is my power.
I am strong, willing and able.
I will be an inspiration to others.
Perfection does not exist. Only progress.
I am courageous.
I am a fighter.
I love my body
I respect myself
I will not put myself down

5 Important Reasons Why Feedback is Important

1. Feedback is always there. In actuality, feedback is around us all the time. Every time we speak to a person we communicate feedback. In actuality, it’s impossible not to give feedback.

2. Feedback is effective listening.

3. Feedback can motivate. By asking for feedback, it can actually motivate people to perform better.

4. Feedback can improve performance.

5. Feedback is a tool for continued learning. Both for my client, and for myself!

Journey to California

Can you believe I came to California 5 years ago weighing just over 100 pounds, only a few dollars to my name with a broken heart and a big dream to start over? I had no job, no friends in California and no idea how I was going to make it.

Let me tell you though, I trusted that somehow, someway, it would all work out. I started lifting and it gave me confidence to conquer anything! My depression started to slowly fade away and I felt more powerful than ever before in my life!

If you struggle or start doubting yourself, please remember that if you persevere through the rock bottom and stay faithful that YOUR DAY WILL COME, trust me, you'll be rewarded beyond your expectations so don't you dare give up!!!

Keep pushing and ignore everyone around you that doesn't see how great you really are!!!

Surround yourself with positivity and ignore the rest.
